Michigan Used Car Blog http://miusedcar.com/blog We make easy to search for used cars in Michigan. Buying a new used car is a major purchase not to be taken lightly. The average cost of buying a used car in Michigan is over $9,500. After learning this, you’ll probably want to do research, comparative shopping and stick to what your budget allows. Remember that all Michigan car dealers will negotiate and easily can dip into their profit margin to seal a deal.

Consider your lifestyle and the features you will need. Do you need a family vehicle? Do you need a vehicle for off-road driving or a truck for hauling? If so shopping for a used vehicle online is the best way to go, because you can see almost every used car for sale in your area or for that matter used cars all over Michigan.

You should also think about color and interior before buying a used car. Many finishes are easier to maintain, such as silver and tan, while black and white cars are hard to keep clean. For the interior, think about if you want to have luxury features. If you’re not into music and prefer talk or news radio, you won’t really need a high end sound system. Many of these features raise the price of a used car in Michigan and can be a preventable expenditure.

Many Insurance premiums fluctuate depending on the car you buy. Try to speak with your Michigan based insurance agent before buying any used car. Buying a used car in Michigan can be fun and exciting if you make the proper decisions and stand firm on negotiations. Pick the vehicle that best suits your lifestyle at a price you can afford, and most importantly secure auto financing before beginning negotiations.

Buying used cars in Michigan became easier when many Michigan car dealers started to compete with each other online. Until just a couple of years ago maybe only one or two local dealers even put their inventory on the internet for car buyers to sift through. For a long time many Michigan car dealers thought that the only way you would be able to sell a car if the person could see it in person. So finding customers that actually want to shop used cars in Michigan online was a shock to them. Here’s a few tips that may help you find a great deal on a great used car in Michigan.

Limit your choices quickly and discover what vehicle is right for your needs. Consider why you’re buying a used car and what specifically you will be using this used vehicle for, you may be surprised at the bargains you’ll find and how much money you may be able to save by shopping locally online. First, consider your commute time and does it make gas mileage is an important factor. Have large is your family which makes it impossible to buy a smaller vehicle in some cases.  Do you want an automatic or manual? Is AWD ok or do you specifically need 4WD? Do you need to have towing capabilities?

Each of these are important factors that you should consider before you buy a used car in Michigan. Don’t let your wants override your needs and don’t buy a used car simply because it “catches your eye”, it could turn out to be a large financial mistake. Liking the way a car looks and purchasing a practical used automobile has a large impact on what your going to pay monthly.

Buying used cars in Michigan is not about looks or wants. Yes, you should be happy about your purchase, but before you make any final decision, you should apply for an auto loan in MI to determine exactly what you can afford each month for a car payment. The last thing you want is to seal a deal and then find yourself struggling each month to make the payment.

Buying a used car is a very important decision that should not be taken lightly. There are many beautiful and trendy used cars for sale in Michigan. If your lucky enough to find a fantastic deal on one of these cars – terrific! But stay focused on reality. Buy a used car you can afford and later, when maybe your financial situation changes, you can buy that car that caught your eye.

All Michigan car buyers regardless of their credit have 3 choices when it comes to financing a vehicle, but for people looking to buy a car with bad credit two of them are very limited. That being said, there are usually three ways that people in Michigan looking to buy a car can apply for an auto loan.

Direct Car Loans

Choice number one that car buyers in MI have is to apply directly to a lender for a car loan. Before the internet, this was done by going to a Michigan based bank and applying with a auto lending specialist there. Often this process was time consuming and tedious and many Michigan banks would only give an auto loan to the most qualified candidates.

MI Car Loans Online

With the advent of online car loan lending, car shoppers can now get car loans in Michigan by going online to not only compare rates, but also apply directly for an online car loan. Applying for an online car loan works very well if you have good credit, but if your credit scores fall below a 640 FICO score (get a Triple Advantage Free Credit Score) and you need a bad credit auto loan, things are not as simple.

The fact is, most bad credit lenders in Michigan, due to documentation and verification issues, only work indirectly through franchised new car dealers in Michigan and don’t offer an online car loan. For this reason, people with bad credit in Michigan will find that applying directly for a car loan will not only be difficult, but their choices will also be limited and they could end up paying a much higher interest rate if they find one.

Car Dealer Loans from Michigan Dealerships

The second choice that car buyers have is to apply for an auto loan at a car dealership in Michigan. This also works well if you have good credit, since you can shop for loan rates online and then compare these rates with those offered by the dealer, in which case the best rate wins. In many cases, most Michigan car dealers will also let you apply for an online car loan at their web site.
If you have bad credit, however, this can be a hit-or-miss situation, since not all car dealers in Michigan offer second chance auto loans and, if they do, most will not allow you to apply for an online car loan if your credit is bad.

Bad Credit Car Loans in Michigan

The third choice is applying for an online car loan at a bad credit auto loan web site.
You should ask yourself the following questions when applying for an online car loan at one of these sites: Is the bad credit car loan application on the site secure? Does the company belong to the Better Business Bureau and what is that site’s reputation with the BBB? Does the site offer a resource section where you can learn about bad credit car loans? Is the company based in Michigan like MiUsedCar.com? And finally, is there a toll free number you can call in order to speak to a customer service representative about your individual situation?

If a bad credit car loan web site doesn’t feature all this, you might want to consider applying for an online car loan site that does before submitting your application.

When you come to the decision to buy a used car in Michigan you should keep in mind that it’s not only an exchange of money and handshake; it’s a lot more than that. There are forms that have to be filed to make this potential transaction legal. The most overlooked form that’s necessary is called the used car bill of sale and it is required for any used car sale in Michigan.

To register and title any used car in Michigan you need to have a used car bill of sale. A used car bill of sale form is fairly simple to fill out, but still very necessary to do.

To help you further understand and obtain a bill of sale the Michigan Secretary of State holds all the information that will give you specific instructions on how to obtain a Michigan bill of sale. The SOS site will give you access to this form. This form can be downloaded free of charge directly off of the web site.

You could drive to your local Secretary of State office or the county clerk’s office to get a bill of sale form though. The generic Michigan bill of sale for used cars contains all of the important information you need: vehicle identification number, model, year, and the purchase price of the vehicle.

The necessity of a used car bill of sale is so important because it verifies that you’re the legal owner of the vehicle that’s purchased. Most jurisdictions also use the bill of sale to determine the sales tax on the purchase.

Now that you’re totally aware of what the bill of sale is, and why it is important in Michigan, make sure you obtain one before the purchase of any used car in Michigan is final. You can go online while the seller is present and obtain a copy to get all the required signatures.

It is getting close to the best time to buy a car in Michigan. http://miusedcar.com/blog/it-is-getting-close-to-the-best-time-to-buy-a-car-in-michigan/ http://miusedcar.com/blog/it-is-getting-close-to-the-best-time-to-buy-a-car-in-michigan/#comments Wed, 12 Jan 2011 17:28:09 +0000 Deal Finder http://miusedcar.com/blog/?p=1108

When really is the best time to buy a car in Michigan? Spring or summer is the busiest time for Michigan car dealerships, which makes it a great to shop for used cars in Michigan. The new models have been shown throughout the country which means that the old models need to be cleared off the lots to make room for the new models coming in again.

Summer might be the best time to buy used cars in Michigan, especially with all the cash rebates financing offers, but not all deals will can end in the best situation for you. For instance, 0.0% financing may sound incredible, but if your credit score isn’t spectacular – you won’t qualify.

Searching for Michigan used cars at the right time is imperative. Although spring and summer may be the best time for great deals, precautions should still be taken. How you’re going to finance your vehicle is one of the most important facts to consider. Are you going to use the Michigan car dealers financing options, will you be going to a credit union or are you planning on paying with cash. Getting a loan through the locally based auto dealership is a convenient option because the dealership promises to get you the best available rates. However, the dealership isn’t giving you the money; they are making “arrangements” for your financing.

Dealers know that the spring and summer is the best time to move cars off their lot. That is very important information for consumers to know. You should watch for some Michigan used car dealers that like adding points onto interest rates to pocket extra money. Be sure to double check the interest rate on your financing and question if the rate has been inflated. The extra sum of money goes right into the dealers hands. The worst part – it’s legal.

If you are buying a car in Michigan and need auto financing yuou will need to take the time to look around for many different potential vehicles and all of the financial lenders available for them to work with. Be determined and knowledgeable about buying a car in MI and you will definitely get a good deal.

Getting a car loan with a bankruptcy in Michigan http://miusedcar.com/blog/getting-a-car-loan-with-a-bankruptcy-in-michigan/ http://miusedcar.com/blog/getting-a-car-loan-with-a-bankruptcy-in-michigan/#comments Thu, 02 Dec 2010 17:29:48 +0000 Deal Finder http://miusedcar.com/blog/?p=1097 car loan with bankruptcy in Michigan you should know that the purpose of this article is not to give anyone legal advice. If you are looking for that, you need to consult a lawyer.]]>

If you want to qualify for a car loan with bankruptcy in Michigan you should know that the purpose of this article is not to give anyone legal advice. If you are looking for that, you need to consult a lawyer. More specifically, if you are thinking of declaring bankruptcy, you should consult with a lawyer that specializes in bankruptcy law.

With that being said, we will begin by familiarizing you with the different types of bankruptcies as well as some of the terms involved with bankruptcy proceedings so that you’ll know if you might eventually qualify for a car loan with bankruptcy in Michigan.

To begin with, there are two types of bankruptcies.

Chapter 7 – This type of bankruptcy is a liquidation bankruptcy. In a Chapter 7, all unprotected assets are sold off to satisfy the claims of the creditors. When the debt involves collateral (such as a home or a car), filers have three choices:

  1. Redemption – pay for the current value of the collateral in a single cash payment. The collateral is now yours free and clear.
  2. Reaffirmation – You agree that you will continue with this debt after the bankruptcy has been discharged (completed).
  3. Surrendering – You give up all rights to the collateral and it now belongs to the creditor who can sell it to recover the debt.

Chapter 13 – This type of bankruptcy is a reorganization bankruptcy. It lasts for either 3 or 5 years, depending on what your family income is compared to the state median. The plan must allow for full payment of 1) priority claims (taxes, support) and generally for payment of the value of 2) secured claims (secured by a lien such as an automobile – although this does not include real estate). It also calls for payment on 3) unsecured claims – in that order. The amount of the monthly payment is based on a form that you fill out that is an evaluation of your living expenses and the disposable income that is left after these bills are paid. While you are in this type of bankruptcy you agree to:

  1. Make the plan payments
  2. Not incur additional significant debt without court approval
  3. Keep insurance on any collateral

For both types of bankruptcies the MI court appoints a professional called a trustee. Although the trustee has different duties in both types of bankruptcies, he/she is there to manage your payments and act in the interests of your creditors.

In Michigan, bankruptcies are over when they are either dismissed or discharged. If a bankruptcy is dismissed, it means that the filer is still legally responsible for all debts. A dismissal is usually the result of being in a Chapter 13 and not making the required monthly payments. When a bankruptcy is discharged, it means that it has been completed successfully. All debts that can be discharged are no longer legally enforceable against the debtor (although some debts such as student loans, child or family support and criminal restitution cannot be discharged). Filers that have a discharged bankruptcy will usually qualify for a car loan with bankruptcy, while those that had a bankruptcy dismissed will find it difficult to qualify for any kind of car loan.

A bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for 10 years following discharge. As a rule, the older the bankruptcy, the less it affects your credit rating. The completion of a bankruptcy (not a dismissal) is also a good time to begin rebuilding your credit through a car loan with bankruptcy in Michigan.

Michigan Truck Loans http://miusedcar.com/blog/michigan-truck-loans/ http://miusedcar.com/blog/michigan-truck-loans/#comments Tue, 23 Nov 2010 17:14:59 +0000 Deal Finder http://miusedcar.com/blog/?p=1094

There are thousands of web sites whose purpose is to give shoppers advice about applying for a truck loan. Much of the information that appears on these sites is geared toward the attitude that car dealers are there in order to take advantage of the customer.

And while there will always be dealers out there who may do everything from lying to the customer to committing outright fraud, our own experience tells us that the majority of Michigan auto dealers treat their customers honestly and fairly and are only in the business to make a fair profit. Most used car dealers want to earn your business for years to come; not only for more car sales, but for the service work on your vehicles, as well. We have had experiences with many of these used car dealers across the Michigan
including car dealers in Traverse City, Lansing used car dealers, used auto dealers in Flint, Ann Arbor used car dealers and Grand Rapids used car dealers.

That being said, here is what we feel are the most important steps for a successful truck loan buying experience:

Know your credit score. There are a number of different credit score types out there, but the most widely used is the FICO score. A FICO score above 640 means you can purchase a new or used car with a conventional truck loan at a prime or near-prime interest rate. A score below 640 usually indicates that you need to apply for a subprime truck loan (also called a bad credit truck loan).

Next, determine a monthly budget for your new truck. Be sure to include the price of full coverage auto insurance in your budget, since all truck loan lenders will require you to have collision insurance in addition to liability and property damage coverage. You should also take into consideration the truck’s gas mileage along with the associated fuel costs. When doing this, be sure to estimate the cost of gas on the high side – with a worst case scenario of $4.00 per gallon (in case the cost of gasoline goes up again).

Finally, do your research. This means shopping for truck loan rates from local banks and credit unions as well as learning the dealer cost of the different models you are looking at. There are a number of internet sites that can supply you with this information as well as the current applicable rebates on the different types of trucks you are considering.
